Meet The Chef: Jhomeny Ramos
Award-winning Chef Jhomeny Ramos brings the flavors of Jalisco, Mexico, to Main Street in Mesa.
With family roots in Guadalajara, Ramos grew up connected to the ingredients, recipes and traditions that now shape his cooking at Guadalupe on Main. His approach is personal, grounded in family history and focused on making Mexican food feel welcoming to everyone at the table.
Ramos’ work has earned recognition, including Phoenix Magazine’s 2026 Best Chef and Best Mole at the 2025 Sunday Dinner at The Duce competition.
The Mole Worth Knowing About
If there’s one dish Ramos wants you to try, it’s the mole. “It's one of the things that almost every ticket that's rung in, someone's ordering the mole.”
His recipe builds flavor with ingredients including chiles, achiote and piloncillo. Ramos also keeps accessibility in mind as he cooks. “I still like to keep things, you know, gluten-free, dairy-free, because I don't like customers feeling like they're left out."
That attention has earned his mole recognition beyond the restaurant, including a Best Mole award in 2025. It also reflects Ramos’ larger approach: start with the flavors of Jalisco, stay connected to family and make room for more people to enjoy the experience.
A Mesa Restaurant With a Family Story
Beyond the mole, Guadalupe on Main gives visitors another way to experience Mesa through local flavor. Ramos’ award-winning cooking connects Guadalajara to Main Street through recipes that feel deeply personal. It’s the kind of place that rewards travelers willing to look a little closer at Mesa’s food scene and find the stories behind the plate.
